SITUATION

A nationwide retail pharmacy chain was experiencing a mysterious revenue loss they needed to resolve.

STRATEGY

• Inmar deployed Rx Analytics on Demand (Rx AOD) to identify the issue through data analysis.
• Those insights were used to validate the accuracy of the measured loss, evaluate potential purchasing adjustments, and explore payers for reimbursement opportunities.
• Observed reimbursements were compared to guaranteed contract rates.
• Inmar assessed if purchasing was consistent with preferred contracted products and whether there were any anticipated price concessions that might offset losses.
• The most significant drivers for the loss were narrowed down to two specific drugs:
  • Epinephrine SOAJ, at more than $1M
  • Amphetamine-Dextroamphetamine, at more than $2M
• These losses and the GER (Generic Effective Rate) for that quarter were significantly less favorable when compared to peers.

RESULTS

• Reimbursement was adjusted for those specific drugs, putting a stop to the pharmacy chain’s losses. Continuous monitoring with Rx AoD will ensure ongoing reimbursement and dispensing are consistent with business objectives.
