A national retailer needed to identify problem areas in its returns/reverse logistics strategy to define and implement new process efficiencies, reduce cost and improve category management.

Strategy

Inmar collaborated with retailer’s leadership to identify which data points will be useful for supply chain and category management teams to use for pinpointing problem areas in company strategy. Inmar developed automated data interfaces for retail leadership to use in forecasting and more accurate ordering to enhance SKU utilization. Also provided technology-enhanced solutions, such as overstock programs, to transfer product where it is needed to increase sell-through and reduce returns

Results

  • Retailer was able to reduce returns by 15% in the first year
  • The volume of product affected and kept in the hands of purchasers represents a full retail value of more than $37 million
