Mark selected by USGA and Olympia Fields Country Club
(Winston Salem, N.C.) – The 103rd U.S. Open, the oldest major golf championship played in the United States, will be held June 12 – 15 at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Illinois. Many years ago the USGA began branding its championships to establish an identity specific to each event. A logo is the foundation of the brand and a cornerstone for merchandising. The 2003 U.S. Open logo was created by David Caudle, who is currently the manager of creative services for Stratapult in Winston Salem. The logo was revealed this time last year, but circulation has increased with the upcoming championship, including TV spots on ESPN and NBC.
"I had been developing logos and identities for the golf industry for several years before the opportunity to design the U.S. Open logo came along," said Caudle. "This project was special for obvious reasons. It was a real honor to work with the USGA and the championship host, Olympia Fields Country Club."
