Vice President Regulatory Compliance (IRL)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President, Regulatory Compliance will exercise leadership in this critical area through both direct engagement with operations and frequent interface with other executive staff. S/he will be expected to oversee the Compliance Programs to ensure compliance and manage risk; lead the organization in the management of this program; and oversee introduction of new and/or revised practices, procedures, and attitudes necessary for success of the program. The V.P. Regulatory Compliance will establish cooperative dealings with pertinent regulatory agencies to which the Company is subject. S/he will be an expert resource to management on regulatory issues and risks for existing and new business under consideration.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the Regulatory Compliance Program to ensure compliance with government regulations and provide guidance on changing practices to ensure compliance
- Oversee government inspection mitigation and all communication with federal, state, and local regulators
- Develop and deliver training to address the critical needs identified in the Compliance Program and any resulting internal audits
- Ensure the Company maintains all appropriate licenses and permits
- Prepare periodic status reports for the Senior Leadership Team
- Maintain current knowledge of all applicable legislation, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and best practices that impact the Company
- Maintain familiarity with inventory management systems, physical layout of facilities, and use of logistics technology
- Identify, at the earliest opportunity, any statutory, regulatory changes, or proposals that may impact the business and make recommendations of how compliance can be achieved
- Ensure an effective communication mechanism for notifying staff of changes to Company policies and procedures
- Proactively identify areas of operations risk and develop processes and procedures to manage the risk
- Actively participate with management on new business initiatives, taking the lead on aspects that relate to regulatory issues
- Support the sales team to convey Inmar's knowledge of government regulations with existing clients and prospective clients
- Support the legal team in contract reviews related to regulatory prevention to protect the Company's interests
QUALIFICATIONS
We seek an experienced, business-minded executive who is strongly motivated to join an energetic, action-oriented team in a role that will have major impact on business success and expansion.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 10 years senior level management experience in a business environment
- Previous experience in a high-growth business environment
- Minimum 4 years experience with regulatory compliance; high level of "front-line expertise" with regulations and regulatory process in at least one of the following: food safety (FDA & USDA), controlled/hazardous materials management (DEA), or environmental safety (EPA); familiarity with two of these areas or all three are highly desired. In addition, familiarity with other regulatory agencies relevant to Reverse Logistics operations (DOT, OSHA) is also desirable
- Analytical and statistical skills to design internal audits
- Previous success in developing and implementing new practices and controls (with specific improvements)
- Skill at conducting strategic risk assessments; track record of developing and implementing solutions to reduce risks
- Ability to present pertinent data and recommendations clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to end-user audience(s)
- B.S. or B.A. from an accredited four-year college or university
