Quality Assurance Manager (Inmar Technology Solutions)

Under the general direction of the VP - SDS, the Quality Assurance Manager contributes to the overall success of software development projects through solid software quality assurance techniques and practices. The candidate must be committed to solving complex project needs efficiently by developing, maintaining, and implementing formal quality assurance methodologies along with day to day management oversight responsibility of QA associates.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, maintains, and implements formal quality assurance testing methods that applies to unit testing, integration testing, system testing, regression testing, user testing.
- Assists associates in developing and maintaining test cases and test plans for all testing phases.
- Effectively applies management development training and constructive feedback, demonstrating required leadership standards and self-development. Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies and effectively assess their potential use.
- Ensures that associates are efficiently assigned to support software development projects and downtown is minimized.
- Leads and develops associates by:
- Assisting with strategic issues and, as necessary, problem solving
- Developing regular relevant management information and distributing/reporting as appropriate
- Informing manager of issues and trends
- Developing associates and addressing performance issues on a timely basis
- Institutes continuous improvement processes:
- Identifying deficiencies in the testing practices and recommending improvements
- Enhancing testing practices and guidelines to improve the process
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in software development testing, including people management experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, engineering or related area
- Ability to manage effectively all phases of testing; including planning, monitoring, and control, team formation and development, project tracking and project deliverables
- Ability to develop and maintain effective communication and resource plans
- Serve as an effective liaison between testing and development team members
- Effectively lead team to ensure the attainment of established objectives
- Objectively review team members and communicate results to appropriate management
- Compose professional business correspondence and presentation materials
- Problem solve and perform root cause analysis
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Comfortable with confrontation and negotiation
- Results-oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations
- Desired:
- Familiarly with software development tools such as Visual Studio Team Systems (Team Foundation Server)
- Experience with implementing centralized test management tools (HP-Quality Center, MS-Test and Lab Manager)
- Knowledge of software and hardware configuration management strategies
- Member of and/or certifications in a professional quality organization such as Quality Assurance Institute (QAI) or American Society for Quality (ASQ)
