Data Architect (IPS Focus)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with project stakeholders, and/or business analysts to gather requirements
  • Have a good understanding of data flows and business rules; documenting them, asking questions to clarify how systems work
  • Responsible for system architecture; addressing complexity, performance, and supportability
  • Define software design using solid RDBMS, data architecture and object-oriented practices
  • Design and develop solutions that are high-performing and extendable on a global scale
  • Create, alter and de-bug SSIS packages, T-SQL functions, T-SQL Stored Procedures, T-SQL Views, CLR Functions, and CLR Stored Procedures
  • Develop and provide system documentation as needed
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with all levels of employees and management is required
  • Demonstrate good teamwork and provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff members

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university and 5+ years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server 2005
  • Thorough understanding of SQL Server SSIS development
  • Thorough understanding of SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Proven ability to work in a demanding, high paced environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective communication 
  • Understanding of systems analysis and design (hardware, software, policies, procedure and data)
  • Ability to learn new hardware systems, programming languages and business processes quickly via varied mediums (verbal instruction, technical reading and immersion training)
  • Good technical and professional communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to effectively train new technologies to technical employees as well as explain the core concepts to non-technical employees
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities involving different skill sets simultaneously
  • Ability to research, develop and manage systems unsupervised
  • Strong business planning, analytical, financial, and conceptual skills
  • Emphasizes structure, process and methodology
  • Ability to create original concepts and approaches to testing/refining existing processes and to develop new system approaches to solve problems and achieve business success
  • Ability to communicate strategically with senior management in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding and support
  • Customer service oriented; ability to build credibility with users; and capable of being a marketer and educator to users of the information systems
  • Ability to effectively adapt to and apply rapidly changing technology to business needs
