Application Support Developer – BizTalk/Windows/SQL Server

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Inmr Promotion Services Systems or other management team member, the Application Support Developer performs work assignments in one or more of the following areas: providing technical guidance and direction to other staff members; participating in project planning and requirements definition; conducting all activities in accordance with standards and procedures; program/system development, implementation and integration; customer support for and technical expertise in end-user decision support software tools and end-user computing technology.

Responsibilities

  • Implement modifications and perform maintenance to existing web-based computer systems, mostly written in-house.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
    o Research problems that arise in business computing systems.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues in a variety of application environments.  This includes being able to research issues related to system configuration, application & database code, and problems with data.
    • Debug programs, applications, and systems to determine the root cause of issues.
    • Design, code, & test new programs and changes to existing programs.
    • End-to-end testing of systems for proof of concept work or for troubleshooting purposes.
    • Compliance with established change management procedures, company standards and best practices.
    • Ensure the smooth implementation of the data tier of a project, including creating required change management documentation and developing implementation scripts and procedures.
    • Provide on-call support on a rotational basis to ensure business commitments and SLA’s are met.
    • Participate in annual Disaster Recovery tests and other infrastructure-related initiatives.
  • Provide customer support for end-users
  • Undertake other assignments as directed by management.

Qualifications

  • 4 or more years work related experience, B.S. in computer science or information systems fields required.
  • 1-2 years experience working with Microsoft’s BizTalk product
  • 1-2 years experience in application development in the Windows web environment
    • Experience developing & supporting web applications and web services with ASP.NET and VB.NET
    • Experience with web programming/scripting languages and environments
    • Experience working with XML data
    • Ability to troubleshoot issues with web sites (IIS, .NET framework, Windows Services, Windows Server)
  • 1-2 years experience in database development in the MS SQL Server environment
    • Experience in T-SQL development, data warehousing and data driven web applications
    • Experience programming & implementing MS SQL Server database objects, including T-SQL Stored Procedures, T-SQL Views, tables, indexes, etc.
    • Ability to deliver high-performance data access objects on very large databases (VLDB).
  • Good application & database analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with individuals at all business levels and a variety of situations  requiring tact, judgment, and composure
  • Ability to organize tasks and time to ensure timely completion of all assignments.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in performance of duties.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and conforming to uniform work practices.
  • Ability to understand business processes and how they are expressed in the technical implementation
  • Self-motivated and strongly oriented to problem solving with emphasis on root-cause analysis and quick resolution of issues
